THE TRAIL BLAZERS

BETA-TESTERS HOME

G’day and Welcome Trail Blazers!

You’re not just early — you’re essential.

By stepping into this beta phase, you’re not only learning how to protect your own digital life – you’re becoming part of something much bigger: bringing Digital Freedom to the world. Your insights, feedback, and real-world experience will help refine this training into something powerful, practical, and accessible for everyone who follows.

You are the free thinkers, the early adopters, the ones who see the digital prison being built and choose to act before the exits disappear. That’s why we call you Trail Blazers – because you’re not just taking the journey…you’re part of forging a path others can follow.

The Virtual Webmaster – 1st of July, 2025

A Reminder of what We Request From You

  • As part of this special beta-testing group, your feedback plays a vital role in shaping the future of this training. At the end of each lesson, you’ll be invited to complete a short survey about your experience and you can respond anonymously if you prefer.
  • We ask that you approach the training with goodwill and a spirit of collaboration. Constructive feedback is not only welcomed — it’s essential. Whether something feels confusing, inspiring, or missing entirely, your insights will help refine the material and ensure it’s as effective and empowering as possible for others.
  • By participating, you’re not just testing the training – you’re becoming part of a mission to help others escape the Big Tech Digital Prison and reclaim their digital freedom. We’re grateful to have you with us at this early stage.

Project Updates

There are no major technical issues that still need to be work out – just things to finish and tidy up. All the Step 1 Lessons are complete but there are still same areas of Playtime that need to be finished. Most of these are related to other projects supporting the training.

Here is our current list we would like to complete before launching the beta-testing. We are ticking them off as complete them.

  • Create the Escape to Digital Freedom Workbook – free downloadable workbook for the training ( 50% done)
  • Complete documenting the CARS Digital Privacy System and publish full specification (80% done)
  • Create the CARS Escape Profiles used in Step 1 – added when complete (80% done)
  • Add all the DYOR resource links to Digital Freedom Tubes (20% – dependency on DFTs project)
  • Create Tests, Quizzes & Challenges for the Test Drive Area (25%)
  • Page Optimisation for digitalfreedom.cloud – Digital Freedom Tubes and Escape Launchpad
  • Trust Ranking Reports and Colour coding for Launchpad icons needs updating with Version 2 of the Trust Ranking Tool
  • Digital Freedom Tube requires a complete implementation of templates and standard page formatting along with better filtering and search options

Completed since 15th May 2025

  • Updated the DFA legal and business structure on DFA website
  • Created a definition of Big Brother for use with the training and other DFA projects on DFA website
  • Created a Marketing Guide for all DFA Projects and will be used for Walk Away and the training DFA website
  • Implemented CDN with External Firewall – just running with default firewall settings but will tweak them later for maximum protection against DOSS and other Cyberattacks.
  • Removed Akismet – Not FOSS, not privacy-focused, and owned by Big Tech Umbrella company. replaced with the privacy respecting, FOSS, independent of Big tech “Zero Spam for WordPress” plugin
  • Website mobile friendly – been doing this as we go. Aware that are still a few issues and will continue to fix them as we find them
  • Website Optimisation – The site is using Light Speed Cache which will soon be connected to the CDN service.
  • Control of how information is presented when Sharing – Installed SEOPress – FOSS and privacy friendly (Titles, Metas, Open Graph, X Cards and XML sitemap)
  • Training Videos have been upload to a paid streaming service supported by a world wide CDN which is the same service we will be using for the website
  • Training Videos – Talking head video walk throughs of all the lessons and assigned tasks with demonstrations and additional information – all Step 1 Lessons done.
  • need to create a Get Involved Page to host the form and provide more information
  • make the GF for beta-testing feedback is currently tacked on the end of the lessons and makes them seem long and ugly (form is basic) – thinking the form could be reduced to a pop-out or drop down.
  • Created a special category and sub-categories for promotional material to be used for Spreading Digital Freedom to provide access to the public and for easy management of the resources.
  • Added two Gravity Forms – one for anyone that wants to get involved in spreading Digital Freedom and another to manage Alternative payments. Instead of using external (and often annoying) captures to protect against spam I have employed a manual capture requiring the person to simply type the name of the training course in the banner.
  • Accept Alternate Payments – The Stripe payment gateway is fully ready and just needs to be turned on at our end but we still need to create process for Alternative payment methods for PWYW – no longer using the payment gateway setup on DFC. Instead use direct links to stripe. Advantages increased privacy with no record on the transaction stored on our sites. The payment happens on the Stripe Payment platform. The customer is then direct back to our designated return page. Alternative Payments will be handled manually via a form. DONE 30th May
  • Digital Freedom Support thank you page – taken to page after making a payment where they also can provide feedback and get involved in spreading digital freedom. DONE 30th May
  • PWYW $0 selection page. A page inviting those that select the PWYW $0 option to get involved in spreading Digital Freedom and also provide feedback DONE 30th May
  • Chance of Winning calculator is working but results are being returned to a different unformatted page – need to format and integrate with Playtime – DONE 26th May
  • Anonymous Feedback Survey – need to create a form so we can receive feedback from the first group DONE
  • Additional information for Who Is Building the Digital Prison lesson – DONE
  • Main navigation – The main navigation needs to be completed including adding modules and lessons for step 1 and icons for the remaining steps that will not be active and serve as place holders – DONE
  • added 26th May – add PREVIEW badge and message to header of training with link to page for updates on the launch of Beta-testing, will later be a Beta-testing badge, message and link – DONE
  • Launchpad steps 2 to 10 – find better way to indicate that they are not yet active – DONE
  • added 26th May – fix mobile menu navigation – DONE
  • Launchpad fix links for the most recently added icons – the link to the service should be on the icon and link below to the report (no reports exist for the recently added icons) – DONE
  • Launchpad Help and Instructions needs updating – DONE
  • There currently is no search bar in the Digital Freedom Tubes – DONE
