10 Steps to Escape the Big Tech Digital Prison
Step 2 – Separation : Compartmentalise Your Digital Life with CARS
Drive Your Privacy: Compartmentalise Your Digital Life with CARS
I have developed the CARS Methodology to help you implement compartmentalisation in your digital life.
CARS stands for:
C – Compartmentalisation
A – Alternatives
R – Responsibility
S – Security
CARS is a flexible, repeatable process you can apply to all the different parts of your Digital Life.
MOST PEOPLE ONLY HAVE ONE CAR!
Most people just have a single online identity they use for everything. Some people may have a multiple accounts and might even have accounts in fake names, but unless they know exactly what they are doing, all those accounts are already linked to their real identity. Even if you are using obfuscation tools like a VPN, these tools alone do very little to protect your real identity.
CARS will enable you to create multiple online identities (digital profiles) that are not linked to each other and enable you to achieve a high level of privacy and even anonymity.
THE MAD MAX APPROACH
As explained in Step 1 the conventional approach to digital privacy is to try to secure your real identity.

The problem with this this approach is that the more you lock down any account or profile, the harder it is to use. With this approach, you actually do need to become an online hermit to achieve any real online privacy.
THE MULTIPLE CARS APPROACH
Instead of focusing on locking down a single digital identity, the CARS approach involves creating multiple digital profiles to separate different aspects of your digital life, tailoring each profile to its specific security and privacy requirements.

In this training we are going to refer to these multiple digital profiles as CARS and you will learn how to create different CARS for the different parts of your digital lives.
Imagine having a garage full of ready-to-drive CARS at your disposal, each uniquely designed for a specific part and tailored to your privacy needs for that part.
How many CARS will you need?
Some people might consider two or three sufficient while others might be happy using a dozen or more.
There will be an optimum number for you to manage and beyond that you may quickly reach a point of diminishing returns in over compartmentalisation.
That is entirely up to you to decide.
