You may have noticed that all the images for each of the Step 1 lessons feature scenes from a movie or TV show.

The movie/TV show images are easy to spot as they all have a yellow border and drop shadow to make them pop.

These scenes don’t just make the lessons more vibrant and engaging – they were chosen very deliberately.

Each scene was selected because it connects to:

• the specific topic covered in the lesson, and/or
• the broader themes of freedom, control, surveillance, and personal liberty in the digital age.

Many of these clips explore ideas that are thought‑provoking, uncomfortable, or inspiring – and they’re designed to deepen your understanding of the subject matter, not just decorate the page.

This quiz is your chance to tell us what you see in them.

How to enter

We’re inviting coaching clients to:

1. Choose one or more of the yellow‑bordered movie/TV images from the Step 1 lessons.
2. Tell us why you think each scene was chosen.

Optional:  is there another movie/TV scene you would choose instead? Why?

There are many different ways to approach it from different angles, for example:

• It might connect directly to the storyline in the lesson (e.g. power, control, escape, resistance, manipulation, surveillance, etc.).
• It might represent a general Digital Freedom principle (privacy, autonomy, informed consent, decentralisation, resilience, etc.).
• It might be the visual symbolism of the scene itself – what’s happening in the frame that mirrors life in the Big Tech Digital Prison?

For each image you select, please include:

1. Name of the movie or TV show and when it was released
   
   
2. Why you think we included that scene
   • Things to consider…
     • What’s going on in the story at that point?
     • What does it say about power, control, freedom, or manipulation?
     • How does it connect to the specific lesson topic in Step 1?

Important: There are no “wrong” answers

This isn’t a film‑trivia test.

We’re not looking for the “one true interpretation” – we’re interested in how you think and what you see in these images.

• Don’t worry about writing something “ready to publish”.
• We care about your insight, not your literary style.
• If we decide to publish your submission, we’ll polish and format it into a more blog‑friendly piece for you.
• Submit as many entries as you like – one for every Movie/TV Show if you like.

What happens to your submission?

Each month, we:

• Review all submissions from coaching clients.
• Select those that add the most value – especially where you:
  • draw strong connections between the scene and Digital Freedom, or
  • notice subtle themes most people might miss.

We then:

• Publish the best contributions to “Trailblazer Track Notes” (our coaching blog), and
• May also publish selected pieces to our general public blog (with your permission and using your preferred name/alias).

• Published submissions:
  Every submission we choose to publish (on Trailblazer Track Notes or the general blog) will receive a Digital Freedom educational resource or service as a thank‑you.
